@8:34 - Totally correct that fusion is fusion in terms of the gross energy output of the reaction. HOWEVER, cold fusion would be immensely more efficient (which is better). The net usable power from cold fusion would be far higher given how much energy is required to produce the necessary conditions for hot fusion. Tokamaks are power hogs, as you well know... Would you rather get 1,000 MJ from a process which requires 950 MJ to run, or get 1,000 MJ from a process which requires 150 MJ to run. So cold fusion would definitely still be a major improvement over hot fusion even in the pre-apocalypse.
